For all the talk that goes around about the cloud and cyberspace, the reality is that all data currently on the internet has to be stored in a server somewhere. Computers and mobile devices can’t display websites unless they first access the data stored on a relevant server. It’s the same with your website and hosting projects; all of the data that forms your online designs is stored in the memory of a dedicated server, the same server that provides that data to any browser that requests permission to view your website. Your data is safe on our secure servers, but it still helps to know the status of the information that you’ve been working so hard on.
WHERE IS MY INFORMATION STORED?
All web data that Orcas Web hosts and supports is stored in our secure servers. The servers automatically track and store data that is relevant to your website, maintaining up to date records, and accessibility to our support staff. You will be able to access this data directly at any time through your Orcas Web WHMCS or cPanel profile. For the most part web data is left for the server to automatically look after and won’t require any manual adjustment.
How much data space do I have?
Our deluxe hosting customers are allotted 5 GB of storage space on our servers. Business hosting and Premium WordPress customers benefit from 20 GB of storage; this storage space encompasses all of the data related to the website’s operation. Any images, text, or other data that you have added to your website is stored in the allotted space on the hosting server, even if that data is not published or otherwise available for browsers to view. We ensure that our servers run at maximum efficiency regardless of how much data storage is allocated on them.
Is my data backed up?
Our servers perform an automatic backup on a daily basis; these backups are stored for several days, then overwritten and replaced. You can also initiate automatic backups through your Orcas Web WHMCS profile, or your cPanel if you purchased a hosting package that provides cPanel access. These backups can be scheduled for automatic intervals and you can set them to create compressed or uncompressed backup files. We highly recommend setting up a backup schedule that fits your operating timetable and requirements to ensure that your data is always safe and available for all of your web operations.
How do I use a backup to restore a website?
Your Orcas Web WHMCS profile and/or your cPanel dashboard provide you with the ability to upload and integrate saved backups onto your website. This function can be accessed through the “backup” option and the hosting server will automatically know how to interpret and apply the appropriate data to your website. If you require the use of one of our automatic backups, or another form of technical support, be sure to contact our technical support team. We’ll make sure your website and data is completely protected and operating at full capacity.
